One of those days...Did you ever have one of those days? The type of day where everything seems to go wrong or at least not normal? Today seems to be one of them for me. I got woken up at 7:30am by a phone call from a coworker. She supposedly called in sick and was letting me know. I told her that it wasn't a good day for that since our fill-in person was also out sick. Her response to me was "Then I guess you better call L and tell her to come in because I'm not!" and she hung up the phone. So because of that I had to rush to get ready and get my kids up so that they could go downstairs and be watched by my fastest friend.
Work wasn't so bad. After work I got my haircut (trecool). I totally needed. Especially since vacation is next week. Anyways, got home, spent time with my kids, went shopping for dinner and just vegged outside with about 10 kids and 6 adults. It's really fun when we all get together. I love it. It makes me realize that things weren't this way when I was still married to the jerk. I have so much more fun now with him gone. I actually feel accepted.
Back to the rest of the night. We've got 4 girls spending the night. My friend and I decided that we were going to give the girls pedicures and manicures. Once the girls were done, we went ahead and pampered ourselves. I was having fun, but all of a sudden, my mood went right down hill. I'm not exactly sure why. I know I was starting to feel a little out of place since everyone else seemed to know each other really well and are sort of family. I don't really know what the problem is (or was). I just felt sort of out of place. I've never really felt like that before. K has always made me feel very welcome and also a part of her family which I'm very grateful for, but something was off tonight. I just can't seem to put my finger on it. Maybe it'll just pass once I go to bed. Sleeping always helps me turn my mood around.
The kittens are doing great. They're a week old right now. If I looked correctly, I believe I have 5 boys and 1 girl. Talk about sucky. I hate boy cats. They have territory issues.
Vacation is 8 days way and counting.

Weekend...This weekend was fun. I got to spend it with a couple of friends and their kids. My kids were with their dad since it was Father's Day and all. We did a little shopping and ate lunch at the mall on Saturday. I was in charge of dinner, so we were going to grill out and have hot dogs and brats. It was about 7:30pm and my friend goes:
"Let's go get tatoos!"
Me: "When?"
Her: "Now!"
Me: "Now?"
Her: "Yes now. Let's go!"
Me: "Where?"
Her: "I don't know."
Me: "Is any place even open this late?"
Her: "I don't know."
I grab the yellow pages and we start to page through and find a place that's not closing within the next half hour or so. She makes a few phone calls and finds out prices.
Her: "I found one."
Me: "Where?"
Her: "About 15 minutes away. They're open till 10pm and minimum cost is $25."
Me: "Ok. Who's going to watch the kids?"
Her: "He will (pointing to her brother-in-law/my guy)."
Me: "Are you sure he won't mind?"
Her: "Nope."
Her: "Can you watch the kids? We're going to leave."
Him: "Sure. Where are you going?"
Her: "To get tatoos!"
Him: (attitude totally changes and NOT for the better) "Ok."
Her: "Thanks."
Off we go about 10-15minutes away from home. We walk in. Ask them if they have what we want and how much it'll cost. They show us what we can get for the amount of money we brought and then off we go to have them done. I got a dolphin on my right shoulder. She got a bumblebee on her right shoulder. We were out of there in about 10 minutes.
On the way home, my ex calls and says I need to call him right away. It was rather urgent. I call him (dreading what it could possibly be. Was I not getting my kids back on Tuesday like arranged? Was something wrong with one of them?). It turns out his cousin (who's 15 or 16 years of age) got into a really bad car accident on Friday. Her boyfriend was driving and they got hit by a semi that blew a stop sign. He slammed right into the passenger side. Flight for life had to come and get her to the hospital. She's got 6 broken ribs. A broken shin. Her kidney and spleen are bleeding. Her brain shifted on impact. A huge gash on her head and leg. They've got her in a medicine induced coma right now. They tried to take her off of life support to see if she'd breath on her own. She did pretty good, but not enough that they felt comfortable enough to take her totally off of life support. She's still on it, but I guess it's low enough that she still has to do some work. Other than that, she's doing pretty good. She's labeled as serious but stable condition. Please pray for my ex's cousin and her family. She's a really good kid and doesn't diserve this. I will keep you informed with as much info as I get it.
